Pitch Reflection > game culture

My pitch isn’t perfect but I tried. I knew there will be valuable feedback from my peers and professor which will help me improve my pitch. I narrated my video and had no graphics due to my weak editing skills. I tried to present the topic I had explored in its unique way.
The valuable feedback has rolled in and made me realize the following:

  1. Camera angles matter

Due to my lack of experience in video content creation, I didn’t pay attention to the importance and effects of camera angles. Sir Marco’s comment highlighted this issue for me.

He suggested I use a tripod or stand to keep my viewers at eye-level. I definitely had to note that down. Eye-level angle brings viewers in front of you. It is how everyone observes the world, sees people talking to them.

Famous content creators experiment with different angles but are most likely to be seen using this angle. Their presentation is very familiar and intimate which engages viewers. My view was at a low angle which didn’t allow me to address my viewers directly.

My view didn’t make me more sympathetic nor drew attention to my emotions and enthusiasm in the pitch. I wonder if it even helped them understand what was going on.

All these problems have 1 solution — a better angle — eye-level camera angle.

  1. Visuals

Poor editing skills meant no visuals (oops)

I understand the importance of visuals in videos. It is important to engage your audience. The visuals will play a huge role in that.

Who isn’t drawn to pretty things and more likely to watch a video for the eye-catching graphics. It is a tactic to engage visual beings. The increased engagement and watching time ensures that our audience is spending more time on the video.

They will have a longer exposure allowing them to better understand the video and digest the information. It is a easier, quicker and clearer way to communicate. I am practicing how to edit and include visuals through YouTube videos.

Hopefully they can help me ensure my future videos will have better quality.

  1. Content

The feedbacks I received indicates I need to put together better content for the videos. I didn’t have examples of the fighting games. I basically didn’t explore the topic as thoroughly as I thought I did.

I need more article references to ensure my audience knows the authenticity of the information they are receiving. I need concrete evidence to support my views on the topic and the opinions. I need more details and explore the depth of the topic. I can use different perspectives for this. For example, how the east and west view each other and themselves when it comes to gaming.

Kind of a wrap up for things to look into for the next DA.

~choose some categories of games and take the main games as the reference
~content driven from both perspective ( how it differs from their point of view )
~difference in marketing strategies with reference to the different culture
~how the culture affects the game ( structure, gameplay, narration etc.) , include facts with proper examples

choose some categories of games and take the main games as the reference

Thankful for all the feedback received!
It will help me improve for my Final DA.
Looking forward to what content I can create next!
