Concept

My Digital Artefact’s major emphasis is on the future, specifically in the next 5 years. I looked into the idea of Artificially intelligent programmed robots in hospitals as an assistive role to nurses and ER technicians. I also looked into the possibility of having AI robots in all hospitals. Moreover, the benefits and drawbacks of having robots in hospitals. Are robots worth investing in ? Do movies predict AI robots in a positive manner?

Methodology

In my original pitch, I was supposed to create 2-3 visual essays and upload them on YouTube then transferred to my blog account on WordPress. Personally, I love watching videos than reading but I never knew editing could be so tough. I lack basic editing skills and the knowledge of creating pleasing videos. During the pandemic, my motivation to work was decreased significantly. Contracting the virus made me weaker both physically and mentally. Writing blogs became by best solution, I tend to express myself through writing more anyways. I have wrote 3 blogs in total. The first blog is about the need of having AI robots in hospitals, second is focused on the representation of robots in novels and movies. Last but not least, the last blog is about the benefits and definition of AI.

Background Research

Regarding my research, I mostly took all information from online researches from scholars and lecture materials. I concisely applied my finding onto my DA. There is a lot of useful information that I learnt throughout my research, I not only gained a better understanding of my lecture materials but also learnt that AI is widely used in hospitals already in different forms. My favourite research paper that I looked into is USER FRIENDLY AI IN TECHNOLOGY IN HOSPITALS written by Kaavya Saravanakumar. The paper is very informative and suggests a lot of good use of AI in hospitals which was vital for my research.

Utility

The work stress of hospital workers (Front-line) have always concerned me especially after the rise of pandemic. I always though that their burden should be lessened in any way possible. My purpose was to educate on the use of Artificial Intelligence and to widen my audiences’ horizon on accepting the concept of robots serving humans. My audience include those that share my curiosity, hospital authorities and hospital workers.

Success and limitation

In my opinion, my DA was relevantly good and better than my expectations, after receiving comments from my classmates and teacher. The comments helped me make my blogs more eye-pleasing and readable.

I think contracting the virus limited my productivity and I would’ve done better if I was healthier to do so.
